Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is a FREE Prescription Savings Card?

A:

Prescription Savings Cards (also known as “Prescription Coupon Cards”, “Consumer Cards,” or “Point of Sale Cards,” and “100% Co-Pay” Cards), allow Prescription Drug users to save money on all types of Prescription Medications. At the time of purchase, Cardholders simply present their Card at a participating Pharmacy to instantly receive substantial Discounts on their Prescription Drugs. It’s that easy.

Q: How do Prescription Savings Cards work?

A:

Prescription Savings Cards contain special computerized instructions that can be read by the Pharmacy’s computer system. When the Card information is entered, the price on the Prescription is discounted based on the Pharmacy’s agreement with our Program. This type of cutting-edge technology allows Consumers to save money without encountering any hassles at the checkout line.

Q: Who needs a Prescription Savings Card?

A:

Any Individual can benefit from our FREE Prescription Savings Card Program. Instead of paying full price for Medication, Consumers can save money whenever they purchase Prescription Drugs. People who already have Insurance coverage may find the Plan useful, as it can offer pricing below their co-pay or it may discount medications that are not covered by their Health Plans. Our Prescription Savings Card can also be especially useful to Seniors Citizens enrolled in Medicare – It has been estimated that as many as 38% of Medicare recipients lack Prescription Drug coverage.

Q: What are the benefits of the Pharmacy Discount Program?

A:

The Pharmacy Discount Program provides discounts for its members at certain participating pharmacies for drugs and other healthcare supplies. You can save from 10% to 85% on the cost of both brand name and generic prescriptions immediately. You can also save on smoking cessation, aids and diabetes supplies. This program is not a prescription insurance policy. Program members are obligated to pay for all healthcare services but will receive a discount from those health care providers who have contracted with the discount plan organization.

Q: How do I find a participating pharmacy to fill my prescription?

A:

To locate a pharmacy near you, simply enter the pharmacy name, along with state and/or zip code in the “Locate a Pharmacy” box on the Home Page. Remember to enter minimum search criteria:

  1. State, or
  2. Zip Code

You can also select the “Locate a Pharmacy” Tab at any time from any screen.

Q: What kind of Savings are we taking about?

A:

POCN offers substantial Discounts on all Brand-Name and Generic Drugs. How substantial? In brief, we save Consumers from 10% to 85%, with an average of 15% on Brand-Name Drugs and 55% on Generic Drugs.

Q: How do I know how much a particular medication will cost me?

A:

To find out how much a drug will cost, follow these 3 easy steps.

STEP 1:
Enter the name of the drug and the desired zip code in the “Drug Cost Lookup” Box on the Home page. (Hint: Don’t remember how to spell the drug name? Typing the first few letters will also work.) You can also select the “Drug Cost Lookup” Tab at any time from any screen.

STEP 2:
Select the medication you want to look up from search results and then enter quantity, days supply required, and zip code.

STEP 3:
Results will show your estimated cost, participating pharmacies in your zip code, as well as lower-priced alternatives, if available.

Q: How do I find a generic alternative to my drug?

A:

Drug cost look-up results will show lower-priced alternatives, if available. Some drugs may not have a generic alternative. You may need to contact your physician to write a different prescription for the less costly medication.

Q: Whom should I contact if I have a problem with my pharmacy discount program?

A:

Contact phone numbers are located on your card.

Q: What Prescription Medications are covered under the POCN Program?

A:

All FDA approved Brand-Name and Generic Prescription Medications are covered.

Q: Is this program fully compliant with HIPAA regulations?

A:

Yes. At POCN, we take patient privacy very seriously. The FREE Prescription Savings Card is fully compliant with HIPAA regulations.

Q: Are there any age or enrollment restrictions?

A:

NO – Anyone and Everyone can participate and benefit from the Program.

Q: Can I get prices over the Internet?

A:

YES – In fact, we recommend it. Use the Drug Pricing tool to get prices from participating Pharmacies.

Q: Does my Doctor need to know about this Card when writing my Prescription?

A:

NO – This Program will not affect the way you are cared for by your Physician. You should, however, always consult with your Doctor about saving money on prescription medications.

Q: What does getting the “Lowest” or “Best” price on my Prescriptions mean?

A:

It means that a participating Pharmacy will give you their lowest (or best) price available at their particular Pharmacy. In 80% of previous transactions, that price will be significantly lower than any Retail or Sale Price you would receive without our Card. If a Brand-Name or Generic Drug is available through your participating Pharmacy at a lower price than our scheduled price with the Card, you will pay only the lower of the two prices. If you have insurance, then the Pharmacy will automatically offer you the lowest price between your insurance co-pay, our discounted price, or the retail price. It’s that simple!

Q: Why don’t all Pharmacies participate in the Program?

A:

All National and Regional Chain Pharmacies and most Independent Pharmacies have been given equal opportunity to serve Consumers via our Program. Pharmacies are required to offer very deep discounts and assist in performing some fairly complicated drug management procedures on behalf of our Cardholders and some Pharmacies simply refuse. However, that gives you the confidence of knowing that Pharmacies participating in the Program have your best interests in mind.

Q: What if my Pharmacist said the card would not save me any money?

A:

As a POCN Prescription Savings Card Program Cardholder, you are entitled to your benefit. Your Pharmacist will not know what the savings will be until the prescription is sent for pricing via the Pharmacist’s computer. If your Pharmacist does not want to comply with the program, you should consider going to a pharmacy that honors the card. Participating pharmacies can be found using our “Pharmacy Locator” tool. Don’t forget – ask your pharmacist to save the Group and Bin #’s from the Prescription Savings Card in his computer for future use.

Q: Some drugs are excluded by my insurance company and other drug programs. Will I be able to get a discount on these drugs with this card?

A:

YES. As a POCN Cardholder – ALL drugs are eligible for discounts.
